Amanda and the Mysterious Carpet - Kelley, Morgan K., and Maggie Amanda was trapped in her own little world on a summer day. She was reading her Arabian fairy tale book while sitting on her comfy chair. She is small for her age, but she is absorbed in her large books.
All of a sudden, the door bell rang. She goes to answer it, since she was home alone, and finds the
carpet delivery crew. Amanda see's that her parents ordered a new silky rug for the living room. The workers lay it down gently, and leave the house. All the while, Amanda carries her book.
She carefully lies herself down on the carpet, and gets back to all of the interesting flying things in her book. While she was reading her magical story, she felt a slight shudder from underneath her. "Must be those darn termites", she thought to herself. She returns to her book, and feels it again. "This is bigger than termites!" She thought again. Amanda looks down to see what is happening by her feet, and realizes that she's being lifted off the ground!
The carpet is floating, and it violently throws her off before flying into the kitchen. Amanda starts chasing it, but it rushes up to the ceiling. Amanda wishes she could reach up there. The carpet tempts her by getting so close, but yet so far from her finger tips.
Finally, after she has moved to the new task of trying to open the freezer door, the carpet lets her jump on. It lifts her up while she grabs her favorite ice cream treat, then carries her up to her bedroom. It brings her to her dressup kit, and she has an idea. She digs in, and pulls out her prettiest princess dress and accessories. She hurries to put them on.
After that, the carpet carries her out through the window and up to the sky to take a seat on a cloud, providing her with a fabulous view of the city. While seated, Amanda hears the familiar sound of her mothers voice, calling her for supper.
She looks up, and realizes she was reading her fairy tale in her comfy chair the whole time! Amanda walks to the kitchen, as her mom asks her why there's ice cream dribbled on her shirt.
